Taylor Swift is making the NFL (and New Balance sneakers) relevant, and her marketing power can not be understated.
Okay, yes, the NFL is one of the most popular sports leagues, BUT it has never seen a regular season game come close to the viewership they are seeing since she has been showing up at games. Not to mention the virality of her content on social media. Let's break it down!
💎 Viewership
The Chiefs vs. Jets Sunday night game was the most-watched Sunday show since the Super Bowl in February, with a peak of 29 million viewers.
Yes, a regular season game that featured Zach Wilson, one of the worst QBs in the league, and the last place Jets had the most viewers since the league's biggest game all year. Insane.
NBC / Peacock viewership is up 22% from last year's week 4 matchup and their streaming platform also saw record numbers with nearly 2 million viewers. This is their largest streaming audience -- ever -- for a regular season game.
💎 Purchase power
According to Fanatics, Travis Kelce's jersey is basically sold out and saw an increase of over 400% in purchases.
Outside of football, Taylor was seen walking around NYC in New Balance sneakers, which quickly sparked rumors of a new collaboration. She was pictured wearing their collab with Ganni, and now the sneakers are going for 3x their sales price on resale sites. It was already a popular shoe, and now it has the Taylor Swift stamp of approval.
💎 Social lift
The NFL reported they saw a record number of views on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce content, with over 200 million views just on TikTok.
Travis Kelce also saw an increase of nearly 1 million Followers on Instagram following her showing up to his game. That's more than the NFL's Top 100 most popular players COMBINED. He has gained more followers from this than when he won the Super Bowl.
I can only imagine what the Box Office is going to look like when The Eras Tour movie drops.
